With an experienced staff unique in the
industry EHI is committed to providing the attention and
sensitivity required in this developing and highly
visible arena. Our certified industrial hygienists and
broad base experienced environmental professionals are
well positioned to work with large or small
organizations to address their mold issues.
Typically, EHI uses a step-wise approach with
our clients to investigate conditions including mold
infestations. A site visit is the first step during
which a senior EHI staff member works with a company
representative to evaluate the scope and depth of the
required response. EHI then tailors a proposed work
scope to the particular needs of the situation.
The most important initial step is a Phase I
inspection and assessment of the extent of the mold
growth and water damage. With our extensive experience
with Mold Testing, we have identified that Sick Building
Syndrome and Building Related Disease are most often due
to mold. Our Mold testing services includes the
ventilation systems and other systems not readily
accessible. We use specialized equipment to view spaces
inside ductwork or behind walls to detect moisture and
identify hidden sources of mold growth.
If driven by potential litigation, an
appropriate bulk, surface and air sampling plan would be
developed and conducted by EHI using proper sampling
methods for mold and microbial contaminants. Samples are
sent to an accredited (AIHA) microbial laboratory; one
participating in the Environmental Microbiology
Laboratory Accreditation Program (EMLAP) and the results
reviewed and analyzed by EHI personnel.
The next step is remediation beginning with the
development of a twofold goal remedial plan. The plan’s
first goal is the removal or cleanup of all toxic mold
contamination without spreading contaminated materials
to clean non-abatement areas. The second goal is
properly repairing the building or building
infrastructure (for example the HVAC) to ensure that
water damage and moisture buildup does not reoccur
preventing mold establishment and growth. EHI personnel
would develop the plan and oversee its execution to
assure the highest quality standards are employed to
meet the goals.
EHI personnel would also serve as consultants
and expert witnesses as required. Our highly trained and
experienced personnel have the required skills and
expertise to address the complex issues associated with
toxic mold projects. We are also sensitive to the
concerns of management and employees and can integrate
these concerns to provide an understandable
interpretation of highly technical information.
Our unique professional staff and our
twenty-year experience will assure our clients will be
guided through this new area of concern with the same
professionalism which has become the hallmark of our
company.
